On March 2017, Okinawa Karate Kaikan was opened in a Tomishiro - city where is a base for inheriting the Okinawan culture and history. Karate Kaikan was built on the site of Tomoshiro gusuku (Castle) park. The site was built after respecting the importance of the Tomishiro Gusuku history. Karate Kaikan is now a place to inherit the world about Peace spirit, manner, and a virtue of Okinawa.

• 

  Dojo facility

  The Dojo's total floor area is about 7810㎡.There are three place for training. People come to the Dojo to practice everyday. At Dojo, not only experienced person can use the Dojo, but also beginners. The Karate trial class is held on Wednesdays.
  The trial class is available without reservation. You can rent the Karate training wear at Karate kaikan. It's a good time to take a picture with you and the training wear! The shower room is also available after the training. There are stands for visitors with wheelchair where you can enjoy watching Karate leisurely. Nevertheless, the Dojo can be used for other not karate events as well.

  Exhibition room and eat space

  There is a exhibition room nect to Dojo (it's a charged area) where you can observe the history of Okinawan Karate.
  A lot of valued imformation about Karate are exhibitioted. There are audio theater and experience corner as well. It's a good spot for not only adults but also kids can enjoy learning the history of Karate.
  After enjoyed Dojo and exhibition room, it's recommended to stop by the shop next to the exhibition room to have a break with drinks. The restaurant "Soba dokoro Thi" surves a good Okinawan dish. The Karate Soba(900yen), pork spare ribs, boned rib,and pig feet on top, is highly recommended to try!

  Special Dojo

  The building with redroof timle and the red wall close to the Dojo and exhibition room facinates the visitors.
  The building is called the "Shurei Hall". This is the symbol of Okinawa Karate Kaikan. It can be only used on the day to test of promotion to a higher rank(dan) on 25th of October and other special demonstrations and display for the Karate day. You are not allowed to enter the building but taking picture from outside is permited.
  Since it was a Castle ruins park, at the back of the Dojo you can see the beautiful nature. It's located on a hill, you can overlook Naha-city especially on sunny days.

Karate is Okinawan traditional culture

There are more than 100 milion people who loves Karate in the world. Moreover, Karate will make its debut appearance at the Summer Olympics in 2020 in Tokyo!
Many people visit Karate Kaikan not only locals and from Mainland Japan, but many people from all over the world also visiting.

Okinawa has had the spirit of "Bankoku Shinryou" which means the bridge to the world and deepened engagement with other countries since Ryukyu kingdom era. In the process of making its fascinating traditional culture, Karate was born.

Karate builds the strong spirit of fortitude that never give up at any circumstances. It's also a martial arts that builds person who loves peace and respect the courtesy.
According to one theory. it is said that Karate was born to protect themselves from predators by using your body with no weapons.
